Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Zulu collects, why, and how we protect it. Zulu is operated by Zulu Technology LLC ("Zulu", "we", "us").
1. Information We Collect
We collect only what's necessary to run the service:
- Account data: your name, email address, pilot certificate type, and password (securely hashed).
- Chat data: the questions you ask Zulu and the responses we generate, stored so your chat history is available across devices.
- Quiz data: practice questions you've answered and your scores, used to show your progress and power daily limits.
- Logbook data: flight entries you create (date, aircraft, route, duration, remarks, etc.) if you use the Pro logbook feature. This is your data — we store it so you can access it across devices and export it.
- Usage data: daily message counts (used to enforce free-tier limits), subscription status, and timestamps.
- Device data: basic technical data such as app version and crash logs used for stability.
We do not sell your data. We do not serve third-party advertising.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the core Zulu service (AI chat, quiz, logbook, live data).
- To process subscriptions via RevenueCat and the Apple App Store / Google Play.
- To maintain account security and prevent abuse.
- To improve the app — for example, identifying questions where answers can be improved.
3. Third-Party Services
Zulu relies on trusted third-party services to deliver its features:
- Supabase: hosts our user database and authentication, and stores your chat, quiz, and logbook data.
- Railway: hosts our backend server.
- FAA & aviationweather.gov APIs: return public weather, NOTAM, and TFR data.
- RevenueCat, Apple, Google: process subscriptions and payments.
4. Data Security
All traffic between the app, our servers, and third parties uses TLS encryption. Passwords are hashed. Databases enforce row-level security so users can only access their own data.
5. Data Retention
Account, chat, quiz, and logbook data are retained while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings, which permanently removes your chat history, quiz scores, logbook entries, and profile.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you.
- Correct any inaccurate information.
- Delete your account and associated data.
- Export your chat history and logbook.

7. Children's Privacy
Zulu is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced in-app and on this page. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
